Factors Affecting the Levels of Open Defecation in Cibaduyut, Bandung, Indonesia

An area is categorized as Open Defecation Free (ODF) when the community has carried out total sanitation practices and does not defecate openly. In Indonesia, more than 58 million people still practice open defecation; in city of Bandung only 17 151 sub-districts have 100% ODF categorization Cibaduyut sub-district 26% ODF. This study aimed to determine factors associated with levels defecation Village, City. was a cross-sectional study. The sample consisted 92 heads families who live sampling technique used stratified random sampling. Data were collected by means interviews questionnaire. analysis involved multivariate understand determinants using KMO & Barlett’s test. results showed that there significant relationship between knowledge, attitudes, income, latrine ownership, social interaction (p-value = 0.0001), test value 0.508. However, after anti-image matrices test, it deemed ownership variable could be analyzed further (MSA 0.460 < 0.50). most influentual (attitudes interaction) individual (knowledge income). It recommended communal septic tank made so do carelessly place for processing feces. puskesmas health office need increase their active role providing counseling empowering importance having healthy latrines, they can are able build independent tanks.
